No Ammo Without a Firearms License (A.6127)

Legislative Description: Prohibits the sale of handgun ammunition to any person unless the person can produce proof of a firearm license; defines "ammunition"; imposes a civil penalty of between $500 and $1,000 for each violation.

Sponsorship: PRETLOW, LAFAYETTE, HOOPER, GOTTFRIED, GANTT, GREENE, DINOWITZ, aubry, brennan, canestrari, clark, galef, gordon d, hoyt, jacobs, john, mayersohn, pheffer, seminerio, weinstein, weisenberg, wright

Cowboy Notes: Requires a person show proof before buying ammunition for a firearm. Sounds like a reasonable bill, except not everybody carries their permit on them all the time -- and without a gun, ammo is pretty useless, except maybe for the excitement of throwing in a fire and hearing it explode. No Senate sponsor. 106
