Keeping a blog up to date can be a real challenge.

Challenge of the Aging Website: Less time, more content, and the need to modernize strains.

If I Had Wings: Reasons that I like working on my blog.

New York Cowboy Slogans: Some ideas on what would be a good slogan for this website.

People Read My Blog: I'm surpised how many people wrote my when my blog was down.

Why I Roll My Own Blog: Having your own blog rather then relying on Kuro5hin.org and others has many benefits.

Changing Blogsphere

The land of the webblog has changed greatly over the past few years since I started back in 2000. There are so many blogs out there, written on so many topics. This means there are experts on nearly every topic, telling you the news as they see it from their particular part of the world. Many of these blogs are written from a first hand perspective that I can't claim to have. Often my own experiences can't be fully told either due to confidentially that people place on me.

I am left with constant questions on the usefulness of the blog. Mine simply is not as advanced as the other ones, particularly with all the new technologies like RSS and trackbacks that are difficult to code into my custom written blogging software. I sometimes wonder if I'm so far behind the technological gap if I shouldn't just move to something more modern.

Then there is the question of politics versus the blog. Both take a lot of time. One makes real change, the other does not. One is a lot easier then the other to do. One can get you in more trouble then the other. Which is more important to me? Politics. I doubt it will ever give up the blog, though in recent days it's less and less of a priority.
