Not My Choosing

At some point in all our lives we realize that you can't be all that you dream to be. You will always be a prisoner of yourself, and you can't be somebody your not. You will always have a personality set out early in your life, and be defined by earlier experiences and knowledge of the world that is largely unchangeable.

I will always be the child of my parents, and their live style choices. I may be largely independent of them now, but I always be limited to many of the social connections and their world views. My personality will come from the world that I grew up in and it will be impossible to try things that are totally beyond the realms of my imagination.

I realize that I am young and have time still to learn and grow. Not only will I change as I learn more, the world will evolve and new knowledge will beget changes in the world around me. But I fear that I am stuck in a reality that will be limited by the world I grew up with limited opportunity to do what I really want to do.
