Close your eyes for just a moment as you walk through the dense color that makes up a beautiful autumn day. Smell the wood smoke and listen to the leaves crinkle below your feet. Just try to understand the world you live in and what creates all this beauty. Is it your eyes, your ears, and your nose?
It is so natural, so intense. Hear the joyful screams of the kids jumping in the leaves next door. Rake some leaves up yourself, dive in and play with the dog. Certainly you can never be too old for that. Fall is here and it makes us all become kids in heart.
Rake and rake. You must prepare for the fall, before the rotting leaves damage the grass. Like the neighboring farmers, you must prepare your land. It might not be your only business, but raking those leaves is important. You do not want to find a mess in the spring.
Soon the snow will be here. All that color of summer and fall will disappear. Everything will turn gray and hunting season will start. Bang-bang will go the fall weather, and maybe some of us will bring in the buck. We will get out our snowmobiles and skis and start enjoying the winter fun. We will eat big feasts and celebrate holidays.
A new year will start. It will mean a new start, and a new way of seeing the world around us. Before then, we must enjoy the fall weather.
