Experiencing the cold fall weather and writing about it.

A Drive in the Country: A short essay on what I saw and how I felt on my exploration of the countryside.
Bradt Hill Road Cemetery: A cememtery that represents a free rural society that once existed in Patridge Run.
East Berne Overlook: A short hike in the hilltowns can inspire.
Heldeberg Mountains: Some thoughts on the mountains where I live.
Magical Sunset: The amazing time when the sky turns to color.
I come to Partridge Run on this cold autumn's day. I come to think. I come to get away from urban society. I come to be an individual. It is a place where I am free, where I can be myself once again.
The woods are all around me, and the birds are chirping in the air. My dog sits next to me, interested in what I am typing into my laptop. For once I am away, for once I am in a place where I can truly enjoy as an individual. It is impossible to explain the experience around me. It is so intense, so refreshing, so opening and cleansing to the human spirit. It is freedom. It is the country.
In the distance I hear the roar of an ATV as it goes through the woods. From time to time I hear a .22 going off in the distance, as a small game hunter tries to bring home something for his family. We are both alone, but we are both thinking what it will be like when we return from all of this.
I can not stay here forever. The woods are not my home, and the urban society nourishes me and takes care of me. Yet, I can dream on what life must be like out here without the restrictions that I normally experience. Maybe someday I will be able to live in the country away from all of this malice.
