Senator Paul Wellstone is Dead

Sometimes news events shock you, they change your perspective on things on life. It's too bad sometimes truly great men seem to find there lives cut short, like Paul Wellstone.

Becoming a Great Senator

If Paul Wellstone had lasted another term, and had continued to work his way up in the Democratic party ranks, he probably would have become one of the greatest senators of the '00s.

He cared, he gave a damn. He was a liberal, and was damn proud of it too. He made his own choices, and was not always tied to what his party or what his constituents went, he often played the role of the trustee.

But that's not to say he was ignorant to his consitutents concerns, he touched many of their hearts. He followed in the traditions of Senator Hubert H. Humphrey.

He may not have lived long enough, or gained enough power, to be in grained in history like names as Fullbright, HHH, LBJ, McGovern, or Sam Rayburn. But he did a lot for his country.

The Good Die Young

35 years ago, on July 5th, the cries across the nation were, Bobby's Dead. Robert Kennedy was assinated while running for President, and we never would have known what would have happened if he had lived. The Prince of Peace was dead.

Maybe Wellstone wasn't a Kennedy, but his death is nothing short of tragitic. It may be remembered as one of worst events of the '02, as part of some of the worst things that happened in the '00s.

Enmies Maybe, But to Death?

Bobby probably didn't have a lot of fans in the Keating Republicans in NYS, but that didn't stop from the tragity of the events of his death.

Nor will people probably remember all the bad things Wellstone had done. He did a lot of good things, and well, certianly was liberal.
