2006 Endorsements

The candidates I endorse for the election.

November 3, 2006

2004 Endorsements: 2004 key campaign issues and candidates.

Aubertine Runs for the Senate: He'd be a great Senator, but I have reservations about a Democratic Senate.

Congressman Phil Steck: Why I think Steck should take McNulty's old seat.

Doug Bullock: Doug is a great candidate for county legislature.

Ed Kosiur: Kosiur is a community leader and should be your choice.

Election Concepts 2006: Some of the major races we should be working on this year.

Mike Conners: The Albany County Comptroller is an independent public advocate.

Mike Conners: A Letter: A letter to friends about why I support Mike Conners.

Sandy Gordon: Sandy is the right legislator for our hilltowns.

Town of Brunswick Chooses: Paul Engelke for Supervisor and Sue Haynes for Town Board will promote sensible development.

2006 Endorsements

I've broken down the endorsements into three types: key endorsements, other endorsements, incumbent endorsements. Key endorsements are the races that I feel most passionate about and think we can make the most change on election. Other endorsements are races where the candidate deserves attention but being out of the my own district or otherwise less important get second billing. Incumbent endorsements are incumbents that I think deserve another chance at their office.

In addition, review 2006 Election Concepts that looks at what I hope to get achieve during this election cycle. They describe some of my logic towards these endorsements. It should be noted that these endorsements often cross-party lines, despite the fact that I only work on Democratic campaigns and in some cases have actually worked on campaigns indirectly that oppose my endorsed candidate.

Key Endorsements

Spitzer for Governor. Eliot is going to be our next governor for all the right reasons. We need a powerful governor, one who is going to push our state back in the right direction. The governorship of the Empire State is not a job for meek men, it's for those in the direct of linage of Nelson Rockefeller and Mario Cuomo.

Gillibrand for NY-20 Congress. Kirsten is the real thing, and she will speak with a clear voice for the needs of all the people who live along the Hudson River and the rest of the district. Too many people in the 20th have suffered the effects of a Hudson River that has yet to be dredged, lack of good jobs, and lack of healthcare, while the incumbent has done little for his people.

Keeler for State Senate. Brian is an impressive and solidly progressive candidate who wants to control property taxes, protect the environment, and supports clean money, clean elections. A real Hudson Valley resident that will effectively represent his district. He has the integrity that is so badly missing in both the Democratic and Republican conferences in the State Senate.

Brockway for Assembly. Andy is the fresh new voice that will finally give the North Country a voice in the Assembly that is dominated by his fellow Democrats. Ortloff was never a serious member of the Assembly being a Republican. Not only is Brockway a Democrat, he also is serious about getting a trail fund created in New York and protecting farmland in his district.
