Respect President Bush

There are many in liberal circles who like to argue that President Bush is evil or attempting to somehow do in our country. They claim that the President is corrupted by special interests, and that he is not doing what he was elected to do. They be believe the president should be discredited in anyway possible, and ultimately be impeached.

Yet, that ignores the fact that not anybody can become President, and that he worked very hard to get himself elected and re-elected. You might not agree with his policy choices, but the majority of people felt that his leadership is what our country needed two separate times. He clearly is representing the values of many Americans, even if those Americans are different then you.

It is one thing to disagree with a man's political beliefs. It's another thing to attack him personally, with the most savage of attacks. President Bush is a man of amazing character and courage, and has many deeply held beliefs. They may differ from what you believe, but you should give him credit for all the courage and conviction that he has.

Imagine for a minute that President Bush was your party leader. You would agree with many of his decisions and his ideology. You would respect him. Shouldn't you do the same with people of the party? You have every right to campaign against a man you disagree with, and make your disagreements public. Yet, once the public has selected it's leadership, you should respect it and follow his or her leadership.

Sometime in the future, a Democrat will be elected president. Republicans will quickly term the new president as a daemon who is somehow promising to destroy our country. That's politics. Yet, there should be a respect for the President and the public's will regardless of ones own ideology or party identification.
