Why I Am A Democrat: There are many reasons I'm a Democrat.
It seems more likely that Hillary Clinton will be our candidate for President. To be sure I have mixed feelings on her candidacy.
She is a strong women candidate, but she is a controversial candidate. Many Republicans hate her with a passion, and those who have not heard her speak in person could easily misunderstand what she believes in. Her apparent aloof nature does not help her case with the mass audience.
Yet, for many women and those who have heard her speak are true believers. She knows how to speak and she knows how to debate. She has been a passionate advocate for causes both in Upstate and Downstate. She shows that women can be strong, and be policy leaders.
Her attachment to her husband, the former President Clinton can be troublesome for many. Some women rights advocates and conservative philosophers advocate feel that she was too submissive to her husband during the Monica Lewinsky scandal. She also is attached in one way or another to the failures of her husband's presidency such as health care.
I was never a fan of Hillary, despite being a leader in our party. Yet, the more I learn about her and the work she has done in New York both on behalf of the people and our party, the more I become a true believer. She has many good things to say and does many good things.
There are not a lot of good candidates in the Democratic field this year. I am not sure if I want another Clinton-presidency, yet I realize that a Hillary presidency will be much different then a Bill-presidency. Hillary is a better candidate then most of the alternatives, and far better then the George W. Bush presidency.
