Mike Conners Re-Elected

The voters last night spoke with a clear voice, and stated that they wanted Mike Conners to remain our Comptroller. Voters chose ideas over name calling, and activism over depoliticization.

Mike Conners had a voice and had results. His office saved taxpayers millions of dollars in his previous terms. He talked about renewable energy and went after big oil. His opponent stood for the status quo.

Everybody I talked to going door to door on his campaign loved his work as Comptroller. They felt he was a passionate advocate for our county, and was not afraid to challenge the status quo.

His opponent, Pat Slackvick took no position on the issues, and never promised to critcize big oil. Good government requires politicians who talk about the issues, and push the boundaries of their positions. This is what made Governor Spitzer so successful in the Attorney General, and part of the reason why voters chose Mike Conners again.

As Comptroller he will not only continue in his formal business auditing our books, but also investigating the pricing practices of big oil at our port. He will force accountability, and ensure that gas stations recieve gasoline at a fair price. That in turn will help gas station owners, and ensure that the general public will get gas at a fair price.

He also work with the county legislature, our farmers, and rural landowners to bring renewable energy to our county. From micro-hydro to cellulosic ethanol he will be out in the forefront, pushing our government to generate low-cost energy in ways that will save taxpayers significant amounts of money. This is what we need in a time of global warming and the decline of inexpensive oil.

Mike Conners promises this will be his best term, yet. It will be an exciting time in county government, as we push forward in building some of the most progressive and forward thinking government in all of New York State.
