Robert McManara is increadibly candid in an hour and a half long documentary / interview. The interviewer gets candid answers out of a once very controversal head of the Department of Defense lawyer.
He sums it up to some very basic life lessons:
If you are interested in the Vietnam War, foreign policy today, or even the psychology of a very egotistical and powerful man, then this is the film to watch. It takes a rather dry interview and makes it incredibly interesting to watch. It inspires you to think about war and the difficult choices a leaders must often make.
The Vietnam-war era was one that defined so much of what we are today. The choices that leaders made far before we where born today, are still effecting us. Our defense policy is as much a result of decisions made by McNamara as they are of current leaders. In this sense, it is truly a fascinating move to watch.
I highly recommend this film to watch. You will enjoy it and be provoked to think about the world around you. You will be challenged and hooked in by the dramatic music that underscores the footage of Vietnam and the massive war machine that McManara once lead.
