Renselearville SF Pond. Camped out by Renselearville State Forest, by the pond or swamp as some call it. Drove around on some of the truck trails. Had dog with me. Picked up litter. Gathered firewood with truck, and had a big pile. Nice sunset. Had some beer. Sat back and listened to Legisaltive Gazette, then the Next Big Thing. Spring peepers are noisey here. Nice fire, but smokey in back of truck. Cooked some dinner—ham hash plus cheese and beer. Yummie! Dog liked the can. Climed in the truck, read some Rachel Carson's Silent Spring and went to bed with dog on site.

Got up the next morning around 7:30. Heard some mountain bikers who passed by the truck. Dog did not notice. Beautiful sunrise over the swamp. Dog jumped out in the coals, but did not burn feet. Packed up my gear and headed home and got ready for work. P'Link

Charlie Brown Christmas Tree - November Walk Series (11/25/07)

Partridge Run Road. Went up to Patridge Run for the afternoon. One of those questionable days out there, but for the most part it didn't rain. Patridge Run Road was as terribly rough, though other people had cut trails around the worst part of the road. Hiked along the creek for a bit, and splashed around in the stream. Looked at the bridge that's been out for a while, and noted how the DEC had reset the concerete barriers around the area and replaced some of the signs around. It's good to see that the DEC is doing some work up there.

Went to pond on road between Patridge Run Road and Truck Trail Road. Decide to go to White Birch Pond. Spent several hours there, soaking in the sun and reading a book. Finally, decided to go to Tubbs Pond for about an hour. Went for a short hike on snowmobile trail. Spent some time writing there, and enjoying the sunset. Returned home. P'Link
