Cloudy weather outside today—but the best weather of the week so far, and I am working on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Decided to go out to Western Partridge Run, and follow some of the snowmobile/illegal ATV trails to see where they lead, and moreover to see what they show.
The first part of the hike was from the intersection of Beaver Road and Cook Hill Road. From there, I hiked south along old woods road/snowmobile trail to field overlooking swamp south of Partridge Run. Kind of interested in seeing this trail, mainly because I've never been on it before. Hiked out to field, then took another trail which tee'd back into the trail, and returned to car. Hiked East on Cook Hill Road, past intersection of Peasely Road, grabbing several interesting photos.
Then I drove down to the other end of Cook Hill Road—well, at least to the point where it becomes a Seasonal Use Only Road. From there, I drove back up slightly, pausing to take a look at the burnt remains of the old house along that road. Parked up at trail head, one mile East of house. Hiked NE along ATV/snowmobile trail to intersection of Long Path. Followed Long Path South (although actually was heading North then East), until where Long Path splits off, then continued West. Where trail breaks into two, headed south.
Decided to make a right turn about a half mile later, which took me wandering around a bunch of swamps—and I ended up in the same place. Took trail back to car.
