Cole Hill ATV Trail/Bushwacking. Explored Northern Area in Cole Hill State Forest. Parked off of Route 3. Followed ATV trail that parrallels road (roughly) to the West. Wondered back into woods. Bushwacked off a sorta-rough trail.
Found old wagon road that may have been the orginal path off of Cole Hill—or maybe it was just an old logging road. Lots of interesting paths around, but nothing that lead to to anything interesting—except to off the State property.
I was hoping to find a loop that went around, like my map showed me. Turns out the map was calling a path, as just a firebreak that had been cut through the forest, and grown up. Discovered this, after hiking back to car, and trying to find other path that leads into forest.
Hike to the East of Route 2, through Swampy Area. Hike to Motor Vechicle Trail, to left, and hiked to the fire-ring, that I previously mentioned in other Cole Hill entry. Shot up fire extinisher was gone from the mess—could the keg-drinkers actually clean up for themselves? If so, my hat goes off to them.
Hiked back to car. It was threating to rain, so I didn't plan to spend all that much time. Went to Irish Hill Overlook, and took a look. Figured out the view was off Route 13, Sickle Hill Road. I've always wondered what I was looking at. Nice. P'Link
